Delivering Hope in Uncertain Times: Hand in Hand Foundation’s COVID-19 Relief Efforts

Introduction

The year 2020 brought unprecedented challenges as the Coronavirus pandemic swept across the globe. For thousands of families in India, the nationwide lockdown meant not just the threat of illness, but daily struggles for food and basic survival. At Hand in Hand Foundation, we responded to this crisis with urgency and compassion, standing by the most vulnerable when they needed it the most.

Our Commitment During the Pandemic

In the face of adversity, our commitment to community welfare became more important than ever. During the 2020 lockdown, countless wage earners lost jobs and daily meals became uncertain for many families. Hand in Hand Foundation recognised this urgent need and launched a targeted relief campaign focused on food security.

  • Identified families most affected by loss of income due to lockdown

  • Organized procurement and packaging of nutritious food supplies

  • Mobilised volunteers across local neighborhoods to reach every household safely

Impact: Food Supplies to 600 Lockdown-Affected Families

Thanks to donor support and tireless volunteers, we successfully organised the distribution of food supplies worth ₹2,50,000 to 600 families hardest hit by the COVID-19 lockdown. Each food kit provided essentials such as:

  • Rice, wheat flour, and pulses

  • Cooking oil, spices, salt

  • Basic hygiene and sanitization materials

This initiative not only fought hunger but restored hope—and dignity—for families during the hardest days of the pandemic.

Ensuring Safety and Dignity

Every step of our distribution followed strict hygiene and social distancing protocols. Our goal was simple: help families survive the pandemic’s worst phase without risking their health.

  • Contactless delivery and use of protective gear

  • Safe packaging and quick distribution to prevent crowds

  • Clear communication on safe consumption and storage
